Mo’Nique to Receive "Ally for Equality Award" at Atlanta HRC Gala

Academy Award-winning actress, talk show host and comedienne Mo’Nique will be honored with the "Ally for Equality Award" at the 2011 Human Rights Campaign Atlanta Gala Dinner. Brava.

The Ally for Equality Award recognizes the outstanding efforts of those who dedicate time, energy and a whole-hearted commitment to better the lives of LGBT people. This award is given to allies outside the LGBT community who stand up on behalf of equality for all Americans. Recipients have shown a commitment to making America a place where LGBT people can be open, honest and safe at home, at work, in the community and in the media. The awards presented at the Human Rights Campaign gala dinners are the highest honor the organization bestows in the area of achieving equality for LGBT people.

Bravo's Andy Cohen received the "Visibility Award" in 2010.

Mo'Nique has long been a fierce ally for the Black LGBT community and a high-profile HIV/AIDS advocate. In a 2010 interview in The Advocate, she discussed the hypocrisy of the black church toward its many gay and lesbian members and said, "God don't make no mistakes."

The actress has also used The Mo'Nique Show as a platform for LGBT inclusiveness, such as  a must-see episode where she and veteran R&B singer Miki Howard discussed gays in the black church.

For her dynamic performance in Precious, Mo'Nique became only the fifth Black woman to win an acting Oscar, some 70 years after Hattie McDaniel became the first to do so for Gone with the Wind.

WATCH: "Top Chef" Carla Hall on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon"

The fabulous Chef Carla Hall won yet again on Wednesday night's episode of Top Chef All Stars. Carla's delicious chicken pot pie won her a trip to Tokyo, some cash and a cooking segment on Thursday night's Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Fallon was the guest judge on TCAS and the cheftestants were tasked with creating a birthday lunch for the comedian, his family and the show's announcer.

This is Carla's third win, after taking home the US Open and fishing challenges. It's also her third trip so far, having also won trips to Italy and Amsterdam. Unfortunately, fellow R20 fave and culinary hotness Tre Wilcox was eliminated last week.

Appearing on Bravo's Watch What Happens, host Andy Cohen asked ridiculously sexy Tyson Beckford to take off his shirt—which he did a la Tom Cruise—and if he had to spend the night with any man, who it would be.

The supermodel responded: "Well, I don't actually go that way. But I notice a lot of people think I do. But if I'm gonna do it, I'm going for Obama. If I got with him, I could run the country. If I was that way, yeah, Obama. I would give it to you, brotha." Tyson added: "Who would I do it for? Will Smith? Somebody pretty like that?" Cohen asked Beckford if he would be on "top" of the situation and the model added: "Yeah. And Michelle would hold the camera!"
