WATCH: Mike Rogers Slams GOP Hypocrisy on "The Ed Show"

Several segments on last night's The Ed Show were devoted to the "sexting" scandal around New York Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner. Mike Rogers, the über-blogger and investigative reporter known for outing closeted anti-gay politicians such as Ken Mehlman and Larry Craig, offered some context.

"The Republicans are great about making it about people when it's about principle. And they have no principles. You just heard RNC Chairman Reince Priebius say, 'We don't want to revisit that,' of course you don't, because it will show exactly how hypocritical you are. Anthony Weiner hasn't done anything illegal, like paying prostitutes. David Vitter has. That's why they deflect."

WATCH: HHS Hearing on FDA Gay Blood Donor Ban Happening Now

The Department of Health and Human Services' Advisory Committee on Blood Safety and Availability will meet today and Friday in Rockville, Maryland to reconsider the Food and Drug Administration's long-standing ban on blood donations from men who have had sex with men.

"The prohibition, which has been in place since the mid-'80s, was intended to protect the blood supply from being tainted with the virus that causes AIDS. But proponents of changing the rules say improved testing methods make the current standards seem outdated. In addition, they say that screening techniques may not rule out other potentially risky donors, making the ban singling out gay and bisexual men unfair.  The FDA reviewed the issue in 2000 and 2006, and decided to maintain the status quo. But political pressure has been mounting to revise the policy. On Wednesday, 34 members of the U.S. House of Representative and nine U.S. senators called on the federal government to revise what they described as the FDA's discriminatory policy."

The lawmakers include Sen. John Kerry (MA) and Reps. Barbara Lee (CA), Jerrold Nadler (NY), Anthony Weiner (NY) and Lynn Woolsey (CA).

The current policy bans any man who has had sex with a man since 1977 from donating blood. A recent study from the Williams Institute concluded that lifting the ban would increase the nation's blood supply by 219,000 pints.

WATCH: Alito Mouths "Not True" As Obama Criticizes SCOTUS Decision

An incredible moment during last night's State of the Union address. President Barack Obama scolded the Supreme Court—seated only a few feet in front of him—for its 5-4 decision to end limits on corporate spending in political campaigns.

Said the President: "With all due deference to separation of powers, last week the Supreme Court reversed a century of law that, I believe, will open the floodgates for special interests, including foreign corporations, to spend without limit in our elections." As the crowd of lawmakers stood and applauded, ultra conservative Bush appointee Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. shook his head and appeared to mouth the words "not true."

CBS News calls it "almost unheard of for a President." Others, such as New York Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner said Alito "deserved to be criticized [and] can mouth whatever they want."

It's also worth noting that at least 4 of the sitting justices agreed with the President's rebuke in their minority dissent. Watch it AFTER THE JUMP ...

Anthony Weiner: No Public Option Will Cost "100 Votes" in the House

President Obama and the White House may believe a public health insurance option is "no longer essential" for health insurance "reform", but, more progressives and House Democrats say otherwise. New York City's Rep. Anthony Weiner (D) appeared on CNBC and says "there's probably a hundred members of the House" who won't vote a bill without one. Weiner tells CNBC's Becky Quick:

"The President does seem like he's moving away from the public plan, and if he does, he's not going to pass a bill. ... Not only I but I think there's probably a hundred members of the House, who believe for various reasons that you need to have something to bring down prices. ...As it was, I think the public plan had been watered down so much. So if the President thinks he's cutting a deal to get Senate votes, he's probably losing House votes."
