Viva Republica Dominicana! Dominican American track phenom Félix Sánchez has made history after wining his second gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles.
Sánchez posted 47.63s on Monday evening for the Dominican Republic's first medal of the London 2012 Games. This is only the DR's third gold medal in Olympics history. Team USA's Michael Tinsley took silver and Puerto Rico's Javier Culson won the bronze.
Sánchez first won the gold in this event at Athens 2004. This year he made history as the oldest man to ever win the 400m hurdles and with a bittersweet personal story, notes LatinosPost.com.
His grandmother passed away while he was set to participate at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. Sanchez contemplated on leaving the Beijing Games but decided to continue. Running through emotions, Sanchez would finish 22nd out of 25. "I ran terribly. I cried the whole day. I was very emotional," said Sanchez. "After that Olympics, I made a promise that I was going to win a medal for her."
Sánchez has also become an internet phenom due to the "bulging" packaging in his track singlets. A few sporno-tastic images AFTER THE JUMP ...
An incredible performance for Kerron Clement at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin. The defending world champion, a Trinidad & Tobago-born American athlete, posted the fastest time of any athlete in the men’s 400-meter hurdles on Saturday, winning his heat in 48.39. Clement advances to Sunday’s semifinals of the event.
@KerronClementTweets: "First round of the hurdles went really well. Won my heat, moving on to the Semi-finals tomorrow. Focus. Just got back to the hotel...finished got a massage (flush). About to hit the shower and back to listening to gospel. God is so good."
WHEN YOU JUMP, more images of the Kerron Clement hotness as he flies over the 400m hurdles. Then WATCH Kerron's video from his Berlin hotel room (audio=low) as he chats about the upcoming games. Oh and winks to the audience, too. It's a beautiful thing.
If it isn’t obvious by entries like this or that—or, especially, this one—the gays have thoroughly infiltrated Wikipedia’s bandwidth. Sometimes the influence is subtle, other times it’s more in-you-face—like the recent entry (cache: here) for Felix Sanchez, the New York-born track star who won Olympic gold for the Dominican Republic. Apparently, Felix was bulging just a little too much and his bio entry has been edited.
