Former Board of Education President Gery Chico is in second place with 24 percent. City Clerk Miguel del Valle has 9 percent. Carol Moseley Braun, the former senator and veteran equality advocate, is in a distant fourth place with 8 percent.
The leading candidates needed at least a 50 percent showing to avoid a run-off. The Chicago Board of Election Commissioners predicted a 50 percent turnout. It appears it will be in the mid-40 percent range, reports WLS, possibly due to snow and cold.
