Scottish authorities discover at least two recent cases where African men in the their 20s were abducted and forced into sex slavery and/or pornography in Glasgow, reports The Scotland Daily Record.
"In the first known cases of male sex trafficking to hit Scotland, two men were smuggled in from Africa and imprisoned in flats. The men were victims of separate incidents. One was forced to take part in pornography, while the other was sold for sex. Experts fear that more victims could follow. Both the men were in their twenties and were held captive in properties in Glasgow. Both thought they were here to work but were forced into sex acts. In the first case a year ago, the young man who had been brought in for pornography managed to escape. He was desperate to go home and was flown back. The second case was within the last three months."
Julian Heng, a local service manager with the National Health Service, tells the newspaper: "They weren't asylum seekers or refugees, they had actually been trafficked into Scotland from Africa."
Trafficking in male African sex slaves is relatively new in Scotland. On the other hand, there have been numerous recent cases in Africa. In October, Cape Town police raided a gay brothel that advertised "African sex with men in chains." The brothel was shuttered and many of the men were discovered to be Nigerian sex slaves.
Black men and women still being abducted and forced into servitude and sexual slavery? A tragic reality but unfortunately not very surprising.
