The wait is over. Fans of the "Hunger Games" trilogy have their first look at Lenny Kravitz as "Cinna" in this poster for the screen adaptation of the science fiction series.

Stylish rocker Lenny Kravitz glams in the new issue of The Block. Kravitz rocks John Varvatos, Phillip Lim and others in the editorial lensed by fashion photographer Steven Pan.
Kravitz's ninth studio album Black and White America was released last month. "Right now, he’s filming The Hunger Games in North Carolina; he’ll play the stylist Cinna, which suits well enough, given his proclivity for tight-ass leather," writes Sarah Nicole Prickett.
Kravitz had a small role in the Oscar-winning Precious. Filmmaker Lee Daniels has cast Kravitz as Andrew Young in his next film Selma, the biopic about the historic 1965 civil rights march.

Overnight in Paris, Lenny Kravitz reflects on the life and legacy of the late Teena Marie. "I wouldn't be here if it weren't for Teena Marie," Kravitz says on the video uploaded via his iPhone. "She took me in when I was around 16-years-old. I was a musician on the street, sh gave me a bedroom, cooked for me, gave me instruments to play and took me to her recording sessions.... I owe Teena so much."
Adds Kravitz: "She was a genius, composer, arranger, singer. Underrated to the end."

Lenny Kravitz had a small role in the Oscar-winning "Precious". Now there is word that out filmmaker Lee Daniels has cast the stylish rocker in his next film "Selma", his biopic about the historic 1965
civil rights march. No small role this time, Kravitz tells MTV News.
"The next role is Andrew Young in a film called 'Selma,' directed by Lee Daniels," Kravitz said. Young was a significant figure in the Civil Rights movement, someone who worked very closely Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And while the story details for "Selma" aren't really out there yet, Young did aid King Jr. in planning a Civil Rights Campaign in Selma, Alabama. Young was also jailed in that same city for participating in a demonstration there.Kravitz acknowledges that this is going to be a significant step up, moving from his "Precious" nurse to Young, a King Jr. collaborator who was at times the Mayor of Atlanta, a Congressman and the United States ambassador to the United Nations. Kravitz is aware of all of this. As he said, "I gotta bring it."
Yep, Kravitz will have to bring it. Andrew Young was one of King's top lieutenants, it's likely Kravitz would get significant screen time.
Robert De Niro is on board as the infamous Alabama Governor George Wallace. Hugh Jackman has also been cast, reportedly as a sheriff. This should be interesting, to say the least.
Filmmaker Lee Daniels, director of the critically-acclaimed Precious, was photographed by Jason Bell for the Out 100:
"If Daniels wins best director at this year’s Oscars for the devastatingly beautiful Precious—as he almost certainly will—he will be the first gay African-American to take the honor. The producer of not-so-lightweight films like Monster’s Ball and The Woodsman, Daniels is on his way to collecting a trophy case full of awards (the film has already won top prizes at the Sundance and Toronto film festivals) and securing himself a spot alongside directors like Alexander Payne and Ang Lee as a distinctive voice of his generation."
On a related note, Lee Daniels talks to the Chicago Free Press about the challenge of being an openly gay black director in Hollywood.
For me, I think the gay part is not an issue. But more the black gay part is a bigger issue. As a gay man, gay men, there so many of them in Hollywood and (they’re) decision makers and it’s a cult, I think. I don’t have to worry about prejudices right now, anymore. I fought so long all my life—prejudices about being gay, about being victimized because I was gay, being victimized because I was black, being victimized because I was gay and black. I’m so happy at 50 years old, that I’m being embraced for my spirit and for me. And it’s so overwhelming. It’s just so beautiful that people can accept me for me and being open. I don’t have to lie.
Precious, which is executive produced by Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, opened Friday in limited release and earned some $1.8 million at the box office. The film is showing at only 18 theaters nationwide. Its $100,000 per screen average is an industry record.

Get into the lead single Roll Out. (Quicktime and Windows Media) The midtempo track is a little more R&Bish than some of Labelle's best known work but the signature voices, bassline and crescendo ... it's all there. The track was produced by and features Wyclef Jean. Lenny Kravtz and the incomprable Gamble & Huff produce other tracks on the new album.
The Back to Now cover art is signature Labelle. The pioneering 60s and 70s rock-soul-funk trio was best known for their glamazon costumes and meteoric concert staging—the ladies sometimes used heliocopters to make stage entrances—and their international hit Lady Marmalade. (No discussion allowed of the "remake" from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.) That wasn't our favorite Labelle track. Does anyone remember Messin' With My Mind? The bassline on that song is killer and Patti and Nona are screaming into the stratosphere.

Another day, another angle to the tabloid feeding frenzy around the Alex Rodriguez, Cynthia Rodriguez, Madonna, Lenny Kravitz love quadrangle. Fitness trainer Dodd Romero, who accompanied Cynthia Rodriguez on her shopping spree to Paris, tells the New York Post that Lenny Kravitz blames former manager Guy Oseary for bringing his name into the Madonna/A-Rod drama. Page Six:
" 'Romero called Kravitz two weeks ago to tip him off that Oseary—who managed Kravitz, Madonna and A-Rod—was about to "pimp out Madonna and A-Rod,' said a source. But Kravitz didn't approve and told Romero, 'I'll take care of this' - and fired Oseary.
"Kravitz was shocked when he was then accused of having a fling with the slugger's wife, said the source. Romero believes Oseary planted the story in retaliation for being dumped.
"Kravitz, Cynthia Rodriguez and Romero were all in Kravitz's tour bus when the reports broke in Paris. 'Lenny looked like he was going to throw up,' Romero told the Post. "Lenny said, 'I worked so hard to clean up my image and now I'm gonna get dragged into this.' "
Just to keep all of this, err, straight, Kravitz denies the affair with Cynthia Rodriguez. Alex Rodriguez and Madonna also deny an extramarital relationship, although the two reportedly have been spending lots of time together. Oh, and now the strippers are coming forward to share stories about A-Rod. Keep the hotrod in your pants, dude.

Whew.& ; The latest: One day after Cynthia Rodriguez filed for divorce, the diva-esque Yankees slugger accuses his estranged wife of engineering a spiteful spending spree in Paris. The Daily News quotes "an A-Rod pal.
"She's been spending wildly," the friend said. "She spent close to $100,000 on her jaunt to Paris."
Cynthia flew the godparents of her daughters, Dodd and Sabina Romero, and their older daughter, first-class to the City of Light, the friend said.
There, Cynthia "had spa treatments, she went to the best restaurants," the A-Rod friend said. "She originally was going to head to Spain, where Lenny Kravitz was touring."
Cynthia Rodriguez recently gave birth to the couple's second child and cites Madonna "as the cause of her marital breakdown, and alleging Madonna wooed Rodriguez to Kabbalah, a form of Jewish mysticism." Rodriguez and Madonna have denied the allegation, but, reportedly A-Rod has begun dabbling in the ancient Jewish mysticism. Madonna denies she "brainwashed" Rodriguez and adds, "I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study. ... I have learned over the years not to take accusations and the many false reports about me very seriously".
Maybe all of this means Rodriguez will return to the (sofa)bed and arms of his former BFF Derek Jeter.
