British actor, screenwriter and director Noel Clarke glams it up in Ozwald Boateng for the current issue of Arena. (PDF) Clarke is becoming something of a gay fave across the pond, having starred in Ricki Beadle Blair's gay-themed television series Metrosexuality, and, more recently, has been playing Mickey on Dr. Who.& ; Stateside gay audiences may have also seen his byline on BBC America because he wrote one of the more edgier episodes of Torchwood, the pansexual sci-fi series that stars out actor John Barrowman.
Clarke began writing only recently, causing quite a stir with his 2005 film coming of age film Kidulthood and wrote and directed the sequel.& ; "I'm not afraid of failure," Clarke tells Arena. "When I got the opportunity to direct, I took it. ... If you're not afraid of failure, you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain."
Oh, and if you're interested, Noel Clarke demonstrates his shooting technique on YouTube.
