Here's a face we haven't seen for a minute. Dark and lovely Pierre Woods spotted at New York Fashion Week for Loris Darin Spring/Summer 2010. Woods was the face and body for Ralph Lauren's Summer Olympics collection and fronted RL's fall/winter campaign.
The look above made WWD—the detail and fit is exceptional—but overall there were mixed reviews for Darin's collection: "None of the pieces were spectacular, but they were wearable, well tailored, and looked like they’d actually fit real humans."
· Gay rights advances in Maryland. Partners and dependents of gay state employees will receive health, dental and prescription drug benefits for the first time. Meanwhile the Senate votes to exempt domestic partners who jointly own homes from inheritance taxes. Legislation to "add gender identity to state laws barring discrimination" stalls in committee.
· Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter (D) signs Designated Beneficiary Law, which allows unmarried adult couples— including same-sex partners—"some of the legal rights afforded to married couples, expanded rights in inheritance, medical decisions, and hospital visitation."
·Legislation to protect transgendered persons advances on both coasts. "The New Hampshire House approved by one vote a bill that would amend the state’s anti-discrimination law to include trans people. In the state of Washington, the House has approved a Senate bill adding 'gender expression or identity' to the state’s hate-crime law. The bill now heads to the governor’s desk for signing."
· Pharrell Williams debuts Bionic Yarn, a new eco-friendly fabric brand made of recycled plastic bottles that can be turned into anything. Says Pharrell: "We want to do everything from high-end luggage to high-end denim, to university caps and gowns to Parks Department uniforms."
Since earlier this week we were talking about tall, dark and handsome men and fun and sexy fashion .... there is a killer eight-page editorial in Uptown that features model of the moment hotness Pierre Woods. You may remember him as the face and body of Ralph Lauren's Summer Olympics collection. Woods is also fronting the iconic designer's fall/winter campaign. Here are some scans of the editorial lensed by hottie fashion photographer Uzo Oleh.
This ensemble Ralph Lauren Black Label. It's kinda clever to style the quilted vest under the suit, imo. Oh and that bag is it.
Ralph Lauren was the designer who shot Tyson Beckford into the stratosphere. Maybe he'll have the same luck with Pierre Woods.
