Former NBA star Rashad McCants shot to fame on the University of North Carolina’s 2005 National Championship team, and, later on the Timberwolves. The tatted baller and former Khloe Kardashian love interest is now the executive producer and star of The Booster Club, a new web series .
McCants stars as the bisexual, hardcore leader of a ring of professional "boosters" aka high-end shoplifters. McCants' character apparently "manipulates both men and women with sex to get what he wants" ... which should make interesting visuals. The series also features Traci Lords and Lamyia Good.
The trailer only looks so-so but points to McCants for the gay subtext. The phrase "boosting" originated in the Black gay club scene in the late 70s/early 80s, and has gradually crossed over into the mainstream. And anyone who has spent time on that scene has probably seen plenty of homothugs. But a 1970s Ike Turner pimp wig? Really?
