Maravilhoso. Rio de Janeiro has become the 11th state in Brazil to mandate marriage equality, according to a court ruling by the General Magistrate of Justice, reports Mix Brasil. The other states include Bahia, São Paulo, Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Espírito Santo, Alagoas, Sergipe, Piauí, Ceará and the Federal District of Brasilia.
On April 10, the neighboring nation of Uruguay became the 12th nation to legalize equal marriage nationwide. And earlier this week New Zealand became the 13th nation to do so, joining Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Portugal, the Netherlands, South Africa, Spain and Sweden. Brazil, Mexico and the United States allow equal marriage in certain states.
