The South America nation of Suriname celebrated its first gay rights march yesterday on Coming Out Day.
"Acceptance and tolerance is growing in Suriname, especially in media ... which is playing a very good role to inform ... and create a gay-friendly environment in Suriname," Kenneth van Emden, director of Suriname Men United, that nation's largest LGBT and HIV advocacy group, told us in April at the 2011 Black Diaspora MSM Consultation in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
