REPORT: Denzel and Will Smith to Remake "Uptown Saturday Night"?

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are developing a remake of Uptown Saturday Night, reports Variety.

A remake of the buddy comedy "Uptown Saturday Night" that's been in development at Warner Bros. for nearly a decade is getting a push forward. ... David Dobkin ("Wedding Crashers") is attached to direct and exec produce remake of the 1974 buddy comedy that starred Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier. Overbrook partners Will Smith, James Lassiter, Ken Stovitz and Jada Pinkett Smith will produce.

The film followed two estranged friends who have their wallets stolen at a nightclub. The next morning, they learn that one contained a winning lottery ticket, and together, they set out to find it. New pic will likely diverge from the original storyline, and is being eyed as a starring vehicle for two A-list leads such as Smith and Denzel Washington, two thesps Hollywood's rumor mill has long associated with the project.

My first instinct is that Uptown Saturday Night and Let's Do It Again are classics, so why mess with perfection? But with Denzel and Will Smith leading, it could have potential.

Oh and who would play Geechie Dan or Silky Slim?

"You want people to talk about you, because once they stop talking about you that’s when you’re really in trouble! I’m happy to have people talk about all the craziness they want to talk about, whether it’s things like every year we’re getting divorced or we’re an open family or Will’s gay, or I’m gay. … When Will asked me to get married, I said, ‘Understand this, there will be no divorce. So, you might be in one bedroom and I might be in another, but we’re gonna be under the same roof and we’re gonna be married."

Okay Jada, here you go! But separate bedrooms? Really?!

Will Smith "Obsessed" with Bisexual Pop Star Lady Gaga?

Will Smith channels his inner Bow Wow. The latest on the internets is that the "happily married" and "absolutely not gay" A-list actor is going gaga over bisexual electro-pop diva Lady Gaga. Oh and Perez Hilton, too.

Lady Gaga, who just scored her second number one hit with "Poker Face" has an obsessed fan, I am told. Will Smith is apparently addicted to her music. He has been playing her album,The Fame, nonstop and it is starting to annoy Jada Pinket and his kids.

"He walks around and keeps repeating the phrase, "Pah pah pah pah pah pah pah poker face," my source tells me. "He constantly blasts the song all day. But I guess it's better than being addicted to a song than drugs or something. "

Bow Wow pays homage to gay icon Nancy Sinatra. Will Smith pays homage to gay-icon-in-the-making Lady Gaga. Why not? There is no reason Will shouldn't enjoy her music.

Jada: Will Smith and I Have a "Real Marriage" and "Are Not Gay"

This is amusing. Despite their much-discussed colorful social life—and the "exciting" suggestions she had to "sex up" an on-screen lesbian character—Jada Pinkett Smith wants everyone to know once and for all her marriage to Will Smith is "real" and they absolutely are "not gay."

The Hollywood couple celebrate its twelfth wedding anniversary this year (09)—but some online gossips are still convinced their love is not for real and claim they are both secretly gay.

But the Matrix Reloaded star is unfazed, insisting there is nothing she could say to convince her marriage critics.

In a recent interview with American news organization National Public Radio, she says, "I don't have an open marriage and no, we're not gay and you don't trust that? Well then there's nothing that I really have to say to anybody about anything, because at the end of the day, I'm living my life, and I'm happy."

So much for the gay rumors but no comment on the many bisexual rumors. And despite what husband Will Smith implies, theirs is not an "open" marriage. Thanks for setting us straight on that one, Jada.

Patrik-Ian Polk and "Noah's Arc" Nominated for GLAAD Media Award, Third NAACP Image Award

Awards season is here and the nominees for the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards have been announced. Among those honored are the Academy Award-nominated film Milk, the Logo reality series Shirts & Skins that featured a predominately black gay male cast, and, director Patik-Ian Polk and his hit independent film Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom. 

The film adaption of Noah's Arc—the first television series to focus on black gay characters—was nominated for Outstanding Film-Limited Release. The nod by the GLAAD Awards caught director/executive producer Patrik-Ian Polk by surprise when he was contacted this morning by Rod 2.0. "I am completely shocked!" Polk tells Rod 2.0. "We've never been nominated for a GLAAD Award before, so it was a pleasant surprise."

The awards season has been especially kind to Polk. Two weeks ago the 40th NAACP Image Awards nominees were announced and Noah's Arc: Jumping the Broom was one of several nominees that featured black gay characters or content, Jasmyne Cannick reported. This week Polk was given a third nod for Outstanding Direction. "The NAACP Image Awards are such a staple of mainstream Black America, that I never really fathomed a gay black wedding movie like Noah's Arc would be recognized by them," the director tells Rod 2.0. "So this is pretty cool to be included in their Independent Motion Picture category. And then to be nominated for Writing and Directing- I'm still pinching myself."

The recognition by the veteran black civil rights organization means greater visibility for black gay men and lesbians in the black community. Polk says, "I've been watching the Image Awards my entire life! My grandparents watched that show. Will [Smith], Denzel [Washington] and Halle Berry win these things. And now, there's just a fraction of a possibility that I, an openly gay black man, might have a chance to accept a major award like that in front of a live national TV audience. I don't usually put that much focus on awards ... but for us in our community, this would be big."

Jada "Encouraged" Will Smith's Love Scene in "Seven Pounds"

Why is this not at all surprising? If you saw Will Smith in Seven Pounds and were impressed with his chemistry and love scene with Rosario Dawson, apparently he was coached. Jada Pinkett Smith reportedly pushed her husband to give a good "performance" for the sex scene.

"Jada said, 'Listen, make sure you don't embarrass me.'She said women forever are going to be looking at this love scene and they're going to decide whether you can go or not," Will Smith said with regards to his racy romp with Rosario in "Seven Pounds." "So don't be holding back, don't embarrass me."

This marks only the second sex scene Smith has done in his entire acting career. The first one was with Pinkett herself in "Ali," so it comes as no surprise that he was beside himself with nerves leading up to it.

"Will wouldn't start kissing for weeks," Dawson revealed to the L.A Times. "It would be on the schedule, we'd have lights and everything set up, and he would end up being like, 'I'm not feeling it tonight. I don't think it's going to happen. Let's wait another week.' I was checking my breath, smelling myself, trying to see: 'Am I offending the man in some way?'"

Not at all. Will Smith was probably waiting for Jada to tell him what to do with a woman. Like her previous roles, Jada probably had an "exciting" suggestion for Will to "sex up" his scene with Rosario Dawson. The couple that plays together ...

Report: Will Smith Donates $122,500 to Church of Scientology

Will Smith denies being a member of the controversial and bizarre religion cult of the Church of Scientology. But his tax records say otherwise. The Huffington Post crunches the numbers on his charitable foundation's tax returns.

He also gave a combined $122,500 to the Church of Scientology, broken into these donations: $67,500 to the New York Rescue Workers Detoxication Fund, $50,000 to the group's Celebrity Center in Hollywood and $5,000 to ABLE, another Scientology offshoot. Smith and his wife have also supported a private school called New Village Academy they opened this fall in suburban Los Angeles that uses Scientology learning concepts.

In an interview last summer with The Advocate, "wife" Jada Pinkett Smith refused to comment on Will Smith's much reported immersion into Scientology and claimed she is not familiar with the organization's anti-gay positions. This was also the interview where Jada claimed she "never played a lesbian before", so, you can take both statements at face value.

Who knows why Will Smith would donate $122,500 to the Church of Scientology if he wasn't a member. It's not like he has anything to hide.

Another week and another rumor about ultra A-list actor Will Smith. Funny how they all come back to Smith and "wife" Jada Pinkett Smith's colorful social life. Will has previously admitted their "marriage" includes some  extracurricular activity. Via Queerty and the catty queens at Datalounge, we hear from Ian Halperin the hunky star prefers coin-operated trade.

"According to a notorious Hollywood Madame, Smith was a client of hers for years before she packed up shop and moved her operation to Manhattan earlier this year. She remembers the first time she ever spoke with Smith. 'I had to reassure him over and over that I could guarantee discretion,' she said. 'Once I convinced him I could, he placed his order. It was for a man. I had 14 women working for me and two guys. You’d be surprised at how many Hollywood stars requested the services of the guys.' "

The thought of Will Smith occasionally enjoying a manwich....eh, not that surprising. At all. The only shocker here is that pumped and buffed Will Smith—have you seen what is under that tux?—would rent boys from a gossipy madam who "guarantees discretion." Something tells us that if Will needs a lil somethin' somethin', he could work plenty of BQs on his own or put a few pool boys on salary.

Pinkett Smith is one of the co-stars in the new remake of the camp gay classic The Women. The actress is cast as Alex Fisher, a chic, lipstick lesbian and best gal pal to Meg Ryan. Pinkett Smith tells The Advocate she took the role to push some boundaries. "I'm always trying to explore different worlds and different realities ... I've never played a lesbian before. I thought it would be a challenge and fun. I was up for the ride."

Pinkett Smith also wanted to sex up her role and had an "exciting" suggestion to "share a kiss" with Eva Mendes. Director Diane English nixed the idea. Too bad, right? The actress readily admits her "best on-screen kiss was with Monica Bellucci in the video game version of The Matrix" but claims she has never experimented with women. A very interesting claim indeed, given the colorful rumors surrounding her marriage with Will Smith and their social much-reported social life.

Jada refuses comment on Will Smith's much reported immersion into Scientology and claims she is not familiar with the church's cult's homophobic positions. "I wouldn't know," she tells the magazine.
