In honor of the Dr. Martin Luther King holiday, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force publicly honored seven black lgbt leaders whose work exemplified King's "expansive vision of social justice." The honorees are:
Archbishop Carl Bean, founder of the Unity Fellowship Church; Earline Budd, a Washington DC-based transgender activist; Mandy Carter, grassroots organizer and community activist; Bishop Yvette Flunder, founder of the City of Refuge Community Church; Phil Reed, former NYC city councilman and noted HIV activist; H. Alexander Robinson, executive director of the National Black Justice Coalition; Phill Wilson, founder and executive director of the Black AIDS Institute;
