2006 may be the Year of the Taye because it appears that Taye Diggs is never without work. Apparently, the thankfully abbreviated run of UPN's Kevin Hill hasn't spooked him from the small screen. Industry casting sites report the actor is close to inking a deal to star in an ABC pilot, Day Break, "about an L.A.-based cop who's trying to stop the murder of a loved one while trying to find the person who framed him for murder." To quote Susan Sontag, the premise is "lacking a certain originality," but there's always February sweeps and the possibility of another gay kiss! (Kevin Hill capture via Onyx Galaxi)
The NYT reviews "pre.preview", the two-act play from dre.dance that debuted over the weekend and was choreographed by Taye Diggs and Andrew Palermo: "It seamlessly blended five pieces, the first three by Mr. Palermo, the last two by Mr. Diggs ... Particularly notable were Mr. Palermo's weird and wonderful "Uncle Gary" — a tour de force solo for Mr. Martina — and "Seen Study," a slow, beautifully patterned female quartet by Mr. Diggs that suggested he has every right to be taken seriously in his new venture."
NBC spears Britney's "Cruci-fixin" storyline for Will & Grace.
"an L.A.-based cop who's trying to stop the murder of a loved one while trying to find the person who framed him for murder."
That could be fun if he is trying to stop a different murder of a different loved one each week. Oh, and if he is framed for a different murder each week. And if it's a comedy.

...sounds to me like the Will & Grace producers, NBC, Britney or all of the above punked out on what could've been a funny episode.

A Year of the Taye....not a bad idea! I could live with that!
