Oral arguments are scheduled for December 20th.
Justice Judith Cowin of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled the entire court should hear Gov. Mitt Romney's lawsuit to force a question banning gay marriage on the 2008 ballot. The blatantly hypocritical and newly-anti-gay Romney is asking the SJC to instruct the secretary of state to put the question on the ballot—if the Legislature again refuses to vote on it. Romney has singled the gay marriage issue while ignoring other ballot initiative petitions—such as one that would make health care a constitutional right, which the Legislature also did not vote on.
Cowin was one of the justices who voted in favor of the 2003 decision to legalize gay marriage three years ago. She could have ruled otherwise but chose to move the case forward. So begins the Mitt Romney presidential campaign.
