Great idea, in terms of raising awareness--but exactly how much carbon dioxide is churned out by entertainers bussing and jetting all over the globe to raise said awareness (and promote latest album)?

And does this mean they'll all stop touring due to the carbon footprint from said travel (as jet planes are most egregious)?

Great point. But at least it raised awareness. If everyone took small steps.

Lacing a glorified mega-concert with messages of living green and global emissions seems like a pretty unproductive way of making any lasting change.

Those folk these celebs tried lecturing have already made those changes, the rest were barely listening and probably drove their gas inefficient vehicles home from the stadiums across the globe.

All I can think of looking at Gore is South Park's Man-bear-pig episode.

So ... doing nothing is better than trying to spread awareness?

Andy in Seattle

No, Caleb, doing nothing is not the answer nor would I suggest that. But flying to Australia or Germany or England on a carbon-belching machine for 20-some hours to.... give a concert about how bad carbon-belching machines are... doesn't that seem a bit odd?

What if they all simply collected in their own native countries and foreswore touring on anything but hybrid or bio-fuel busses be at least a bit more consistent with their message?

I support celebrities using their popular capital to raise awareness and educate and motivate change, I simply ask they practice what they preach, lest they hand the critics of fighting climate change the opportunity to paint them as hypocrites.

Rihanna is as much a SINGER as Madonna if you want to get catty. They are both POP performers! So please leave Rihanna alone . Thank you!

Al Gore's got an Oscar and Nobel Peace Prize and the right wing blowhards got _Insert cricket chirp_! I fill that blank, the right wingers Rush Limbaugh, Michelle Malkin, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Dennis Miller, Steve Doocy, Brian Kilmeade, Gretchen Carlson, Brit Hume, John Gibson, Fox News, Neal Boortz, and conservative bloggers got nothing, natah, zip, zero, a turd, laughed in their faces!
