Governor David Patterson of New York. Oh, my God, what will the Archie Bunker types do? With Deval Patrick in Massachusettes, and Barack in the White House. Now, if I could just get Adrian Fenty in my bedroom. I like soft, sensitive types too...well, sensitive anyway.

Oh, I forgot about Spitzer. It just shows that you can't deny personal desires and pretend you are something you're not. You have to face yourself, and be truthful with yourself. If not, you'll almost always be caught in your lie, or "found out." All these "DL" brothas need to learn that.

TheRevKev

HERE IT IS, LADIES & GENTLEMEN...BROTHERS & SISTERS!

THIS IS GOING TO BE THE THING THAT HELPS THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN GAINS ITS RESURGENCE! THIS IS OLD DEMOCRATIC POLITICS AS USUAL AND THAT'S WHAT THE CLINTONS ARE...TALKING ONE THING BUT WALKING ANOTHER!

THIS IS INSULTING TO KNOW THAT THIS MAN WAS STANDING ON SUCH A FIERCE STANCE OF RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION, DOING THIS KIND OF THING!

HOW, IN 2008, WITH CAMERAS EVERYWHERE AND THE TEXTSCANDAL OF THE MAYOR IN DETROIT, DO YOU DO SOMETHING THIS STUPID!!!!!!!!? WOW...WOW!!!!!

JUST INSANE! BLESS IT! GOD BLESS NEWLY-INSTALLED PATERSON, BECAUSE THIS IS A NO-BRAINER!!!!

Andy Niable

I could be pithy and say "there goes another superdelegate..." but I won't.

This might have started a conversation about the legalization of sex workers... if Spitzer hadn't busted prostitution rings when he was the legal-beagle attack dog earlier in his career.

Aw, lawd...

Derrick you DO crack us up--and thanks. A friend of mine, originally from North Carolina, expects a wave of strokes and sudden deaths in the South if Senator Obama makes it past swearing in.

robert

I was wondering has anyone heard about Geraldine Ferraro saying that Obama is only where he is because he is black??

andrew c

I'm sorry, but what does this have to do with Hillary Clinton? Sure, he is the governor of her state, but he is not a staffer of part of her campaign.

Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is a huge Obama supporter (and superdelegate!) and involved in an well publicized extra marital affair with his chief of staff. And a corruption case. It's not the same as prostitution, but, no one's house is that clean.

Give it a rest.

Samuel I

It's too bad what happened to this man. Spitzer was a friend to our community and put his career on the line as attorney general and governor to fight for gay rights and marriage. This may set back marriage equality in New York for years ...

If this is true, he probably should resign because it's a distraction and hypocritical. But it's no reason for Obama fanatics to become gleeful, there are more than enough hypocrites in his camp right now when it comes to gay rights, sexual indiscretion and corruption. And any gay Rod 2.0 readers who is an Obama fan should be very mindful of that.

Andy Niable

This Obama supporter is anything but gleeful--Spitzer was a fiery fighter against corruption who has, by his own hand, contaminated all his past fine work against corporate corruption and for marriage equality. It's sad, and very much in the Greek-drama sense of the word, tragic.

Ariel

Damn, if I find some ass thats worth five g's a night , I'm Marrying it.

Rod McCullom

Ariel, you are absolutely right. Could some quickie sex ever be that good? Worth 5 grand?

Andy made a good point earlier. Our society needs to re-evaluate the puritanical attutude toward sex workers and sexual bartering. Unfortunately, Spitzer prosecuted these types of cases, but, he has been a tremendous asset to our community. Let's wish him the best.

ATL Kid

Luther, like many of your other comments, that is a SAD and PATHETIC statement.

I'm a loyal Rod 2.0 reader and love and respect the diversity of topics and viewpoints. I'm also a former New Yorker now living in Atlanta and will say that it is ridiculous how you and so many other readers constantly use RACE and racial talking points. Especially when it comes to anything even remnotely concerned with Obama v Hillary, which is where this thread is cascading.

Rod has been reporting on Spitzer (and the blind lieutenant governor) for years. Spitzer was a great attorney general and promising governor, although he has made too many enemies too quicky. He spoke out against gay bashing, introduced a gay marriage bill and toughened state laws in bias crimes and racial discrimination. And for what it's worth, if you are BLACK AND GAY, you could probably benefit from these. And please note that Spitzer is THE ONLY GOVERNOR to introduce a gay marriage bill. So yes, he has "the right to marry" and was trying to give it to others.

I'm sorry he has had some personal problems. Maybe at some point we can re-evaluate sex workers and prostitution. Unfortunately, Spitzer prosecuted those too, so he is being hypocritical. But the bottom line is you don't kick your friends when they are down. You let them have their dignity and gracefully walk off stage.

PS. Obama also supports drivers licenses for illegal aliens. His governor Blagojevich introduced a similar plan. I'm sure you'll find a way to rationalize that, too.

Me

Yeah I have to say I can't figure out what the hell this has to do with HIllary Clinton. On the Michael Baisden Show yesterday, all of these ignorant ass black folks were calling in with all kinds of craziness about the link between this and Bill's issues. One chick even said "the Clintons made cheating popular". WTF? If anything, my black uncles and cousins did ...

Anyway, I just don't see why Obama supporters are turning cartwheels. If anything they better be scared, because folks are gonna start digging for skeletons in his closet and you can best believe they are there ... we all have them. Don't celebrate just yet.

Greg

ATL Kid, tell us how you really feel!

You're right "Me", this really has become the "silly season." I'm sorry for what Spitzer has done to himself, he had a promising career. He should prpobably resign, this will be a distraction.

On the other hand, Obama's campaign and its supporters should be very careful. I live in Michigan and Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has enough problems of his own. These will become center stage as we head into the Michigan revote that Obama and his campaign are trying to avoid. Kilpatrick's administration is corrupt, he is in a sex scandal and has been absolutely silent on the revote. Why? Because he knows Obama will lose the election and he will be a liability, Michigan voters outside of Detroit think Kilpatrick is an embarassment.

Me

Greg, "silly season" is right. I am following it, but the whole thing is becoming very high school student council-esque, and it's kind of turning me off. I'm very disheartened when I listen to call in shows and hear just how uninformed many people are where their voting choices are concerned. This chick who lives in my building gave me like a 45-minute monlogue about how "Barack has worked hard and deserves to be president" and she knows in her heart she's been called to vote for him. No mention of his issues or experience at all. I was like um, okay. She obviously didn't notice that I didn't utter one word agreeing or disagreeing with her ... I've avoided most discussions about the topic altogether. I've been called everything but a child of God for voting for Clinton, which I just don't get. I never said I hated the brother, I just don't think a) he's ready to lead this country and b) this country is ready for a president of color. Shit, most offices we work in can barely handle black managers.

It's all exciting to watch, but it's like I said, both sides don't need to do any celebrating at anybody's expense because it's early and shit is changing every day.

"I'm sure you'll find a way to rationalize that too..."

"...even though, I've never seen a post of yours."

Oh, my. Poitier and Belafonte used to talk that way to each other back in the early 50s. Then, when they got older, they calmed down.

I enjoy reading both your posts. 'Course I feel safer with Luther--we're the same age. AtlantaKid, you kinda' young & mean.

ATL Kid

Okay, now "I" feel very bad.

Luther and Derrick PLEASE accept MY APOLOGY. In re-reading my post, its clear I over-reacted. You certainly did not have to apologize so eloquently, and Derick, you kindness and humor have endeared you to everyone on this site.

It's good to hear opposing views because we're learning from each other. PLEASE feel free to speak your mind. I'm glad to find at least one black blog, gay or otherwise that offers consistently different viewpoints.

ATL Kid

"I'm sure you'll find a way to rationalize that too..."

Oh Derrick from Philly, you read me really good, lol. I suppose I did come across as a know-it-all. Thanks for grounding me. :)

Derrick from Philly

Cool, ATL Kid:

Now you're young and cool...again.

Remember, both Luther and I were late-comers to the Obama Campaign. We thought racism would stand in way of any serious attempt by a black man to win a major party's nomination (we also thought the same thing about a woman, I believe). Now, we've both been impressed by Barack Obama, and maybe we're a little over enthusiastic, and also, over-protective of our new hero. (I gotta' nerve speaking for Luther too, don't I?)

Thanks for responding, ATL Kid. Hey, you ever get down to Valdosta to party? We used to do it barefootin' down there! Lord, it was the time of huge Afros, and every brother had huge muscles and huge buns. LOL.

Kevin

A quick correction -- Paterson would be the THIRD African-American elected Governor. Don't forget Douglas Wilder! He's not in office now, but he deserves his place in history as the 1st (since Reconstruction).

Honti Sonud

That was one HI DE HO!

Whatever happened to role playing in the bedroom? Spitzer looks like he keeps fit and so does his wife. Their children aren't little anymore. Surely she knew her husband had "special needs" long ago. They could have put on a show in the privacy of their home and saved that money.
