From coast to coast tens of thousands of protesters take to the streets. One of the biggest stories of the day is in Las Vegas where Wanda Sykes confirms what many of us already knew. The comedienne publicly comes out as gay.
Everybody who knows me personally, they know I’m gay. ... I’m proud to be a woman, I’m proud to be a black woman and I’m proud to be gay.
Sykes also reveals she was married on October 25. "I want to have my marriage also recognized in Nevada, in Arizona, all the way to New York." Oh and the comedian slaps down the much-quoted meme that blames Prop 8's passage on black voters "because it’s just not true."
Congratulations to Wanda. You go girl.
Yes yes yes I love Wanda

NAACP/NAACP Legal Defense Fund and other organizations of color come out in favor of CA S. Court overturning Prop 8 because of the impact of the ruling not only on gays, but people of color as well:

This is great news. She as always an ally and so I never questioned her sexuality. She was always cool with me because we were cool with her. And she's so very talented!! Go Girl!!
She just cemented my love and respect forever; she'd have to slap my momma to lose it. [and even then I'd ask, 'Wanda, what did she do?']
Maybe now more of our celebs will step to the plate.

BAM!
MAYBE THIS IS CALL OTHERS TO STAND UP IN THE TRUTH AND WE CAN CHANGE THE "COLOR" OF THIS FIGHT WITH SOME BLACK AND LATIN AND ASIAN PEOPLE AND MAKE IT A FIGHT FOR RIGHTS.
I DON'T HOLD ANYTHING AGAINST THE WHITE GAY COMMUNITY, BUT THEY NEVER SEEM TO REALIZE THAT WHEN THEY PLASTER THE STREETS AND AIRWAVES AND INTERNET WITH IMAGES OF WHITE MEN AND WOMEN, IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR IT TO FEEL LIKE A FIGHT FOR RIGHTS. IT FEELS LIKE A REQUEST FOR PRIVILEGE. IT'S JUST HARD ENVISION WHITE MEN AND WOMEN AS SUFFERERS OF INJUSTICE IN AMERICA. WITH PEOPLE OF COLOR ADDED INTO THE VISUAL MIX, IT FEELS LIKE A COMMUNITY OF LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE OF ALL HUES, DESIRING THE SAME END RESULTS...LOVE, EQUALITY, AFFIRMATION.
MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, AFTER THEY PUT DOWN THEIR SIGNS, THEY'LL SEE THE SIGNS AND ENSURE THAT THE FIGHT FOR EQUALITY LOOKS LIKE A COMMUNITY FIGHT AND NOT JUST A ACTIVISTIC STANCE.
WE ARE EVERYWHERE! REMEMBER THAT?! WE HAVE TO RETURN TO THAT AND LOOK LIKE THAT AND WE DON'T ALL LOOK LIKE ELLEN AND PORTIA, ELTON AND DAVID. SOME OF US LOOK LIKE WANDA AND...

Go on Wanda, I liked you without knowing as you were pro-gay all along, and, hopefully you will stay funny, and, not go the Ellen way, she was a hoot before going public with what we already knew and is now just boring.
And, I wonder what the Sullivan's, Savages and their fellow bigots are saying about the NAACP joining in this fight, let me guess, nothing since it means they will have to find some other group to spew their racism at.

Now we can get Shemar Moore, Puff Daddy-Piddy-Fuddy, 50 Cent, Gay-Unit, and many other black entertainers to COME OUT so I can get me a new bf.

This is wonderful and great news. If more people would come out in the black community then things will change as far as views.

Cool... welcome to the club.

That is HOT. I love Wanda Sykes and am glad to see she is fuly comfortable with her life. This is what Prop 8 has done, encouraged people to celebrate themselves and embrace their inner activist.
