Baby, I loves me some David Paterson. The governor is really going through it now with the budget and the polls are very bad for him. But I am so glad he is keeping his promise to our community.

Nathan James

Paterson does stand by the commitments he makes, and often takes a lot of flak for it. Now if only we could find a way to get the votes we need in the Senate, and put a stop to Sen. Ruben Diaz, Sr.'s rabid anti-gay activities...

I am glad to hear this...we have too many reasons for them to hate us and none for them show us any amount of love...

THANK YOU THANK YOU!
This governor is a man of the people and history will reward him kindly! Two black governors and both support gay marriage!

Best news I’ve read all day. It was always curious that New York (my state) has been lagging behind.. Iowa. But I suppose that rat’s nest of politics in Albany has a great deal to do with it.

NEW YORK - Of all places - should have been the first to pass this legislation! Whatever the reason, I sincerely hope they allow gays & lesbians to marry.

I don’t know if you know this about New York State, but nothing, and I mean nothing, gets passed unless the Governor, the Speaker of the Assembly, and the Senate Majority Leader all agree to it. Until recently, the Senate was controlled by the Republicans (while the Democrats had the Governorship and the Assembly, and still do), and they weren’t eager to have New York be the first state to legalize or recognize same-sex marriages.

EXCELLENT! and way overdue. If Iowa can be ahead of New York, something’s really screwed up.

David Paterson, thank you sir. We will remember you come primary season.

Doubt it’ll pass. The Dem majority has a few nuts in it when the Dems won majority rule last Novemeber; the Dem majority is by around three seats or so and a few senators threatened to vote with the other folks if same gender marriage came up for a vote.
