Toni Braxton debuts the new music video for her single "Make My Heart". The track is destined to be a clubbanger especially because the Billie Woodruff-directed video is a love letter to black and Latino LGBT youth. It fuses the vintage "house" music club scene of the 80s to the ballroom scene of the 90s and 00s.
Atlanta-based Darian Aaron describes it as this year's "gayest video" next to Lady GaGa's "Telephone":"Toni looks absolutely amazing in this video and it's clearly obvious this heavy dance track is targeting her gay fans. There's plenty of voguing, duck walking, dipping, and spinning as Toni and the kids serve it."
Walk, children. Walk and serve.
Watch it AFTER THE JUMP ...
The track is hot with a really strong beat. I love a tight horn section. I also loved the video.

A little something for (from) everybody. Church ladies. Steppers. Ball scene. And is that Tourie Escobar of Nuttin' But Stringz feeling that drag queen's muscle?

You know all of the so called masculine, straight acting, TRUE gay men are going to whine and cry and complain that once again those awful so called feminine are ruining the image of the black gay community once again.
Won't someone please think of the DawgpoundUSA models?
We need REAL gay men in these music videos.
I can see it now.

Rev Kev...
Always love when you post! You have so much knowledge and share so much. I have never met Mr Woodruff but he is an incredible director, I am so glad to see he is working again with Miss Braxton. This video is just gaw-juss, so much to see and experience! The video is on fiyah!
And thank you Rod! Toni B one day, Janelle Monae another and even Kele from Bloc Party.. Keep it coming!

Yep, a little something for everyone. I really like her and I'm glad she's not mumbling. I love some of her other songs, but I couldn't understand a word she was saying. I'm sure the drag performers are already getting ready for this. She looks wonderful with the new hairstyle. Very fresh and edgey.

Totally feeling it! The horn lick is crazy! Nice to feel good about a video again!
Posted by: Joe Buck | 15 April 2010 at 12:50
You are so right Joe. That horn gets all up in your back.
Posted by: FREELEO | 15 April 2010 at 13:27
I love this song and I liked all the elements of the video but there were just too many things in it.
Minimize all of the people (i.e. two FIERCE voguers as opposed to...I lost count) and this would have been great.
Agreed with Joe Buck about the horn lick.

Love the song! Glad to see Toni back in bizness and ready to school these other so-called singers.

I am LIVING for this video! Good to see Ms. Braxton doing a little something different (is she channeling her inner Kelis?), and am loving all the LGBT folks represented! Not quite as gay as Gaga/Beyonce's Telephone video, but my gaydar is still spinning on this one!
Oh, and @anti-intellect: don't be fooled, those "REAL" men at DawgpoundUSA are gonna love this video, too!
