"Coming Together" is a beautiful new short film on love and marriage equality created by Frankfurt, Germany-based filmmaker Alexander Sinclair. The video shows two families coming together to celebrate the commitment of two young men.
What makes the video unique is that it is created from a cosmopolitan, Afro-German perspective. The short film depicts many Afro-Germans in everyday life, including the young man at the center of the film. That POV is rarely seen in the United States. It's also notable that filmmaker uses a clip of President Barack Obama's historic announcement on equal marriage.
Germany boasts nationwide anti-LGBT discrimination laws and registered partnerships for same-sex couples. The ruling conservative Christian Democratic Union/ Christian Social Union opposes marriage equality.
The film was lensed in Frankfurt and Mannheim. Watch AFTER THE JUMP ...
Rod, you've done it again! As I've told you repeatedly: You come up with news related to the African Diaspora found nowhere else on the Black blogosphere! WOW!
This story makes not only my day, but my weekend. :-) To think that an Afrodescended male would openly produce a film short promoting same sex marriage is, practically, unheard of among the uber macho Black male counterparts on this side of the pond. This is amazing!

Co-signing what John said. I would NEVER see this video or the Nina Simone story anywhere else. Beautiful video and so inspirational. I love it and would love to see more of his work.

The main guy is really attractive. And I agree with John. It is nice to see things from the African Diaspora.
